FOR ALL YOUR FLATTRACK AND CAFE RACER NEEDS - THROUGHOUT EUROPE !
We here at the RED MAX SPEED SHOP know one thing; bikes are cool - not all bikes, not all riders - but under the skin of the plainest of all bikes can be the start of a project!! Take the old Yam XS650 - pretty boring bike at the best of times eh? but soup up that engine and give it a style makeover and you have a gnarly flat tracker or rip-roaring cafe-racer.
Have a look at our projects on the Flickr pages to see what we've done with them here , or browse the parts section .
Take a look at most of the old twins out there and the same applies - bonnie/sportster/A65/W650 etc. etc...... You can't just throw parts at it either, it takes a keen eye to build a well balanced well finished bike worthy of the name and you need to throw in a bucket load of attitude. There is a saying - 'that bike looks fast just standing still' not easy to achieve, if I was building a bobber I would want it to 'growl at me' from its side stand!
Most of these ethics can be applied to your road bike to make it 'just so' - but you may need to use some of that brain to escape those blind car drivers out there!
We are aiming to be able to supply most, if not all - of the parts you need for your project bike build including some crazy paint jobs/anodising/chroming and powder coating. Also amongst the race bike builds we are currently doing - we are able to build your bike for you to any standard up to any budget. Just ask us to give you a quote. We mainly build flat track, street track and cafe racers along with the occasional Bobber as that’s what we're interested in.
The flat track side of the Speed shop is borne out of our Racing involvement with Shorttrack UK, the idea being to support the series by helping to build interest in the bikes at a street level i.e. street trackers and make parts and services available to racers under one roof.
We aren’t just talking about it either - we have sponsored the Thunder bike class at Shorttrack UK the last three years , so make sure you get to at least one round for some very close racing! and it's the kind of sport where you can get in the pits and meet the people and smell the oil.
Cafe racers have been in my blood all my life and was passed down to me from me old man at a tender age, and ever since - whenever I bought a new bike home - as I was putting my gloves on I could hear the sound of my dad thrashing it off down the hill before I'd even sat on it!
I'm so committed to it that I managed to crash my Norton on the way to the Rockers Reunion this year, just so's I'd have a better story about the ride than any one else!
Managed to smash off the front brake when she went down, but kicked it all straight, rode the bike home with no brakes and dug another bike out of the shed and still got to Brighton for egg, bacon and a cuppa.
Bobbers - well I just dig all that low - brow vintage look stuff and it fits right in with the Hot - Rod scene which I’m deep into as well.
So if you wanna be part of it all, just go to the contact page and let me know what I can do for you.
Thanks Steve 'Von' Hillary.
